No One

This one is hot off the press, a just recorded demo, I'm sure I'll be making lots of adjustments.
Reworked a few lines and re recorded. New tunes sometime take awhile to find where they want to go. Gonna have to work on getting the vocals just right.
----------------------------------------------
2/14/21 Re did a few lines and the chorus, was too many words so I changed. Song is so new that I had to listen a few times to figure out what I needed. A few more months and maybe it will fix as I play it. Kari Loya that is what I was feeling. Voice bit scratchy so wanted to wait a bit before redo.
No One
I keep dialing that phone, nobody home
hasn’t been a soul to answer for the longest time
It’s hard to live the lonely that falls, when there's no one
I keep walking that road God only knows
every step in desperation on an empty party line
Coming back around to echo the call, from no one
Chorus
I miss that smile, that face,
that comforting embrace
I miss that warmth, that cheer
that voice I long to hear
I miss that home place, safe base,
always welcome walls
I keep writing down thoughts, what I have lost
years of tears and heartache wash over my mind
Every letter stamped the postman recalls,
returned to me from no one at all
Chorus
I miss it all
Instrumental
Bridge
Each heart I miss I wish were here
Each night in dreams I draw them near
Each day I wander endlessly alone
Chorus x 2
Once upon a time
Now no one…
Secret Fishing Hole

Revision notes: When I first started songwriting not that long ago one seasoned songwriter told me that I will start getting good after writing about 200 songs. This is number 10...so here we are in the journey. Lol Changed verse one and left "secret fishing hole" for chorus only; as Danny and Cheryl suggested. Took the ooo's out as Andrew advised (I had wondered about that as well) and built a bridge there instead (before last verse). Also expanded the short verse after the bridge. Thank you all for the responses and helping me grow in this art, much appreciated!
Secret Fishing Hole
VERSE 1
I'd rise in the early dawn,
To go fishing with dad.
We'd load up his pickup truck,
With the fishing gear in back.
Now that he is gone,
I fish alone on the shore;
Near sunlit waves
and memories.
VERSE 2
Thoughts of yesteryear,
Dance in my mind,
While I quietly wait,
For a fish to bite the line.
What I wouldn't give,
To see him,
One more time.
CHORUS
At the...
Secret fishing hole,
Down the trail
and through the trees.
Home of many
Childhood memories.
Sitting next to Dad
With jokes and stories
Take me back
One more time
BRIDGE
He taught me how to rig my fishing pole
Take my own fish off the hook
What to keep and let go
That riverbank has stories to tell
Looking back
VERSE 3
See, in my hands I hold
More than a rod and reel
Cause memories of dad
Are tangled in its feel
So treasure the time you got
In one cast it is gone
Make some fishing memories
So your legend will live on
CHORUS
At the
Secret fishing hole
Down the trail
and through the trees
Home of many
Childhood memories
Sitting next to Dad
With jokes and stories
Take me back
One more time
To the
Secret fishing hole
Down the trail
and through the trees
We Waited Too Long ( Revised)

We Waited Too long (revised)
By Jay Harris
Here we are, worlds apart.
Both of us longing for a brand new start.
Words fly, tempers flare.
Vows are broken, nobody cares.
How did it happen, when we tried so hard.
To be the best the world had seen.
Hand in hand, heart to heart, and it all was free.
We tried so hard, I guess we waited too long.
It's all but gone, I guess we waited too long.
I do the yard, you make a cake.
We both know deeds no longer cure the aches.
You long to stray, I long to drink.
Beyond concerned what anybody thinks.
We sought advice and help along the way.
Neither did much now I can see.
So here we are with lives as cold as cold can be.
We tried so hard, I guess we waited too long.
It's all but gone, I guess we waited too long.
Love's banner flew when we were hot. We raised it high for all the world.
Then that sweet love was soon forgot, and that war torn banner fell unfurled.
Heartfelts exchanged, through caring eyes.
And in that moment, nobody lies.
Both know we're done, is what it is.
Not too surprised to see it’s come to this.
It wasn’t me, I know it wasn’t you.
We each learned roles we had to play.
And how we changed was never seen, not day to day.
We tried so hard, I guess we waited too long.
It's all gone, we waited too long.
Molly

Andrew Fischer
Verse 1:
I once knew a lass named Molly
She was oh so freckled and fair
She had emerald skies
In her big bright eyes
And a blaze of fire in her hair
Verse 2:
We met in the Contae Átha Cliath
In the mist of a warm summer night
And we danced very slow
On the wet cobblestone
Till dawn, then we said goodbye
Verse 3:
I’d swim St George’s Channel
I’d scale the high Cliffs of Moher
Oh I’d come a-running
All the way back to Dublin
And right up to Molly’s front door
Chorus:
Oh Molly, should I come back to thee?
Or Molly, should I move on?
Oh Molly, look what you’ve done to me
Now I’m pining away in this song
Bridge:
Now you’re oh so far away from me
Steering Wheel 4.0

Thanks for all the input, friends! as per suggestions, I have added another verse (which seems to come logically in pairs) before the bridge. Danny, I think it comes closer to having some sort of resolution as well. Please pardon the recording
Steering Wheel
(verse 1)
all these roads
are the same to me
you decide, I will guide
you hold the key
(verse 2)
grab on tight
use both hands
live and learn, don’t crash and burn
that’s the plan
(chorus)
I only point where you make me
only go wherever you take me
I can turn
but I can’t feel
nerves of steel
steering wheel
(verse 3)
spend today
It’s yours to use
bet it all, it’s your call
win or lose
(verse 4)
if I could wish
my wish for you
simply be, the dream you see
would come true
(bridge)
I won’t tell you where to go
or what to do once you get there
don’t need to know
the why or the wherefore
Memphis street
Abilene fencerow
winding curve
or straight and narrow
I can turn
but I can’t feel
nerves of steel
steering wheel
(repeat chorus)
Let It Burn

Kari Loya
They say time heals, helps pain go away.
They say fine meals, a little wine, and some play.
Will warm your heart back up again.
Though it’s hard to say exactly how or when.
Prechorus:
You’ll never hear ‘em go
This ain’t your rodeo
Go find another show
And they’re never gonna say
Chorus:
Sometimes it’s ok to just let it burn.
Dreams dashed, hopes crashed, that never return.
Look down, look around, look up, see what you learn.
But sometimes it’s ok
To just let it burn.
Reachin’ out long but comin’ up short, ain’t exactly fun, fun sport.
Livin’ right here but tryin’ to get far often leaves a battle scar.
We can jump over walls. Cross that gap.
Sometimes first gotta find the right map.
And that means havin’ to let go. Cause life rolls on as the wisest know.
Prechorus
Chorus
Bridge:
Starin’ at ash from the past feels so hard
But that’s where real beauty emerges.
Kingdoms will crumble. We’ll all take a tumble.
And then we can rise again…. Because…
Chorus
[not yet sure how I'll end it...]
If These Hands Could Talk

If these hands could talk © Ray Wyatt
C>If these hands could talk, the stories they could tell
If these scars could only speak, they’d ring out like a bell
I’m reaching up to heaven, and I’m crying down in Hell
If these hands could talk, you would know me well
See this ugly crooked thumb; I got it from my wife
She caught me in the kitchen with a rusty carving knife
I begged her not to use it, but then you know what they say
Kids and angry women, never listen anyway
I was working in Alaska, digging there for gold
Gorgeous was her beauty, but then savage was her cold
I took too many chances with winter in her hills
Lost my little finger to the frostbite from her chills
C>
I got these busted knuckles in an angry barroom fight
I was passing through in Galveston when I stopped in for a bite
I admired a waitress who was much admired before
I lost a tooth and both my boots just running out the door
I was slinging chains and drill pipe on a rig out in the gulf
When a cable snapped and snagged my hand and damned near tore it off
They gave me ninety stitches, but not a drop of Novocain
I cried myself to sleep that night just dying from the pain
You see these ugly callouses, covering my palms
I got them picking cotton down there on that prison farm
I was only trying to help a friend get a bag to Santa Fe
The border man caught me and they hauled me away
C>
I headed back to Houston, I was trying to settle down
Where I met a timeless beauty on the better side of town
She swore to me she loved me, but sent me on my way
That’s the wound that hurts the most until my dying day
Do you see this ugly dark spot, back there of my hand
The doctor said its fatal, least that’s what I understand
Just give me back my last 10 years and let me try again
I promise I won’t waste it, just throw me to the wind

Happy Anniversary To Me and You
by Patricia Bishop and Jesse Navarro ©Dec. 2020
V1
I surprised her with breakfast in bed
A cup of coffee, bacon and eggs
A side of French toast drizzled with honey
Nothing but the best for my little bunny
V2
She could read me like a book
But this time I got a question mark look
A light turned on inside of my head
I guess she forgot; I kissed her and said
Chorus 1
Happy Anniversary
Bet you thought I’d forget
Not this time; it ain’t over yet
Today we’re gonna do what you wanna do
Happy Anniversary to me and you
V3
Later in the day we went for a drive
Along the coast to the northern side
Packed a picnic lunch, a couple of beers
I said sweetheart that was a great idea
V4
When we got back home we took a short rest
I said think what you wanna do next
The last few years were hard to get through
I know today means a lot to you
Chorus 2
Happy Anniversary
No I didn’t forget
Not this time; It ain’t over yet
Today we’re gonna do what you wanna do
Happy Anniversary to me and you
Bridge
Went out that night for dinner, dancing and wine
Gave her that diamond she wanted for a long, long time
And this is what she said ….
Out Chorus
Happy Anniversary
No, you didn’t forget
But this time it hasn’t come yet
I didn’t have the heart to spoil it for you
So tonight we’re gonna do what you wanna do
Happy Anniversary to me and you
Happy Anniversary to me and you
