Jana Pochop: Breaking Your Songwriting Template
All of the songs in your set or on your record sounding the same?
Jana Pochop digs into how to break out of your habitual sound beyond just melody changes—she focuses on groove, harmony, form, instrumentation, and production—all without losing what makes your writing yours.
Genre isn't the enemy - it's a tool you can bend on purpose. The bending without breaking is the trick.
Expect hands-on exercises where you take your own verse and chorus and rebuild it by shifting a few key variables, plus real examples from Jana's own genre-blending, production-minded work.
If your songs are starting to sound like templates of each other, this is the reset to compliment the melody workshop from earlier this year.

Ellis Paul: Building Songs From Ideation to Character Detail
Before the chords and melody, there's the harder part: knowing what to write about, and saying it with the kind of specific, vivid detail that makes a song land. Ellis Paul walks through his process for finding ideas worth chasing, building them out with concrete, sensory description, and then steps to edit until only the essential lines remain.
This one's for anyone whose lyrics feel vague, generic, or like first drafts that never got finished.
This workshop will be a little different – Ellis will be virtual!

But, he will be live on the big screen and walk everyone through an exercise. Once it’s complete, we’ll take the small exercise to complete a full song and then do a song circle with what you’ve created at the end.
