Brian has won the Songwriter Serenade in Texas, the Big Top Chautauqua in Wisconsin and took second place in the Woody Guthrie Songwriting Competition, second place honors in the 2012 CT Folk Festival Songwriting Competition, nominated for the 2013 Texas Music Awards Singer/Songwriter of the Year Award  for the second time, a finalist in the 2013 UK Songwriting Contest and a southwest regional finalist in the prestigious 2013 Mountain Stage New Song Contest.

Gary was the 2004 Academy of Texas Music winner of the "My Texan" Award, and the 2005 winner of the “Woody Guthrie Award.”  Gary was also a nominee for "Vocal Duo of the Year" along with TC Smythe.  TC and Gary were also the nominee for "Song of the Year."   Gary was named the nominee for "Songwriter of the Year" by the 2009 Academy of Texas Music.  TC and Gary were the winners of the 2009 Academy of Texas Music "Vocal Duo of the Year."   They also won the 2013 Academy of Texas Music "Popular Song of the Year" Award.
