Voting Guidelines

Note: Only paid members* may upload songs or vote. All paid HSA members can, and are encouraged to vote in all voting whether or not a song has been uploaded, or whether or not the member has been nominated for an annual award.

SONG OF THE MONTH
1. All songwriters, including collaborators, who are HSA paid members, who upload songs in the Members’ Area during any month, must vote for 2 different songs in that monthly competition.
2. Writers of the song, including collaborators, cannot vote on their own song.
3. If a member(s) (as shown in #1 above) does not vote in the monthly competition, or votes for their own song, their song will be disqualified and removed from that month’s competition.

SONG OF THE YEAR
Note: All Song of the Month winners are nominees for Song of the Year.
1. All songwriters, including collaborators, who are HSA paid members, whose song(s) has been nominated for the Song of the Year Contest, must vote for 2 different songs in that yearly competition.
2. Writers of the song, including collaborators, cannot vote on their own song.
3. If a member(s) (as shown in #1 above) does not vote in the Song of the Year competition, or votes for their own song, their song will be disqualified and removed from that competition. Their Song of the Month Winning song(s) will still be eligible for placement on the Annual CD Compilation.

COLLABORATION SONG OF THE YEAR
Note: A collaboration is a song written by two or more songwriters. At least one songwriter must be a paid member*
1. All songwriters, including collaborators, who are HSA current members, who have been nominated for the Song Collaboration of the Year Contest, must vote for 2 different songs in the current year competition.
2. Writers of the song, including collaborators, cannot vote on their own song.
3. If a member(s) (as shown in #1 above) does not vote in the Song Collaboration of the Year competition, or votes for their own song, their song will be disqualified and removed from that competition. Their Song of the Month Winning song(s) will still be eligible for placement on the Annual CD Compilation.

SONGWRITER OF THE YEAR
Note: A songwriter must submit at least four songs, individually or as part of a collaboration, during the current year to be eligible for Songwriter of the Year
1. All songwriters, including collaboration teams, who are HSA current members, who have nominations in the Songwriter of the Year Contest, must vote for 2 different nominations in the current year competition.
2. Songwriters, including collaboration teams, cannot vote for themselves.
3. If a member(s) (as shown in #1. above) does not vote in the Songwriter of the Year Contest, or votes for themselves, will be disqualified and removed from that competition.

Annual Awards trophies are only given out to Members who are current in their membership dues.
