Attention HSA Members:
We would like to thank everyone who came out for the HSA November Meeting on Sunday. It was a nice surprise to see Chris Stiteler, an HSA Lifetime Member, who shared his songwriting expertise with the group in providing feedback on the songs presented. We hope Chris will visit us often.
A special thanks goes out to Buddy Trotter for presenting a very interesting November Mini Workshop titled “Giving Song Feedback Like A Pro”, an article from Song Chops.
IMPORTANT - The HSA 2018 ANNUAL VOTING for Song of the Year, Collaboration Song of the Year and Songwriter(s) of the Year is now OPEN through Sunday night, November 25, 2018, on the HSA website at www.houstonsongwriters.net . All HSA members (current and former) who are registered in the Members Area on the website with a "Y" status are encouraged to participate in the monthly and annual voting contests. This is an excellent way to catch up with what your fellow HSA Members have been doing throughout the year.
Click on the Song of the Month Icon to login. Before voting, you can listen to all of the songs eligible for Song of the Year, Collaboration Song of the Year, and the songs presented throughout the year by the Songwriter(s) of the Year Nominees by clicking on the corresponding boxes.
When you are ready to vote click on the 2018 Annual Voting box and please read all instructions shown before casting your 2 votes in each of the three categories. Members who are nominees in any category MUST also vote in all three categories. You cannot vote for yourself in any category or on your own song or songs you collaborated on. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your participation in the voting process. All awards will be given out at the December Christmas Party.
SONGS PRESENTED AT THE NOVEMBER MEETING – The Upload Section for songs presented at the November meeting which begins the 2019 Season will not open until after the 2018 Annual Voting closes. A message will be sent out when that area opens.
CHRISTMAS PARTY – Save the date for the Annual Christmas Party on December 9, 2018 at J.P. Hops House, 2317 S. Hwy 6, Houston, TX starting at 2:00pm-6:00pm. There is no critique session at this meeting. All HSA Members are invited along with their family and friends to help us celebrate this Holiday Season. There will be food and live entertainment for all to enjoy. HSA provides the ham and turkey, bread and rolls. We ask all members to bring a side-dish or dessert (of their choice) to complete a dinner menu. Drinks and sodas may be purchased at the bar. The entertainment is provided by “YOU”, so bring your musical instrument or sing a cappella! Annual Awards will be given out at that time.
We also have a “White Elephant” gift exchange. It’s a fun game. Anyone who brings an inexpensive musical, wrapped gift can participate. It can be a new gift, recycled gift, or whatever you have around the house that you no longer have use for (or never had use for).
Our new HSA 2018 CD Compilation which includes all of the Song of the Month winning songs will be available for purchase for $15 each.
HSA YEARLY MEMBERSHIP DUES – Renewing Memberships for 2019 are due beginning on January 1, 2019 in the amount of $35 and will be effective through December 31, 2019. New members may join at any time for $40 for their first year of joining which will be effective through December 31, 2019. You can pay at the December Christmas Party or use the PayPal link on the website at www.houstonsongwriters.net or mail your payment to Houston Songwriters Association, P. O. Box 1471, Sugar Land, TX 77487-1471.
