Attention HSA Members,
Congratulations to the HSA July 2022 Song of the Month Winners, Wallace Chase for his song titled THE WEIGHT OF TIME and to Melanie Broussard with her song titled RISE UP! Honorable Mention, for the song with the 3rd highest number of votes goes to Danny Liggett for his song titled IT HAPPENED AGAIN. You can hear the songs for the July monthly winners on the Home Page of our website at www.houstonsongwriters.net. Also, a recap of the July Meeting is shown on the Home Page under Monthly Meeting Information.
A special thanks to the 21 members who participated in commenting on the songs and the 18 members who voted. In hopes of increasing the number of members who comment on the songs that are posted each month, we have extended the time for commenting to 28 days. REMEMBER, even if you do not pay dues, you may still comment on the songs as long as you are registered on the HSA website. HSA is dedicated to the art and craft of songwriting where songwriters can learn more about how to write a song; develop their own songs and help others develop through constructive feedback by commenting online or at the Face-to-Face meetings; meet new friends and collaborate with new lyricists and musicians. Every member has something to offer, no matter what stage they are in as a songwriter.
AUGUST 1, 2022 ON-LINE MEETING - The HSA August On-Line Meeting is now open. You can access all of the open areas for the Song of the Month Entries on the Home Page by clicking on Monthly Submission / Commenting Schedule or clicking on the Members Area Page.
The August Schedule for all of the Song of the Month entries are as follows:
August 1 – 15 Upload songs for submissions and comments by members
August 1 – 28 Members may continue to comment on the songs posted
August 15 – 23 Songwriters can revise their song, if necessary
August 24 – 31 Voting for August Song of the Month
We hope that all members will participate in commenting on the songs as soon as they are uploaded to the website.
HSA FACE-TO-FACE AUGUST MEETING - By now you have probably heard about the fire that destroyed JP Hops House, our long-time meeting place. At this point we do not know what the owners’ intentions are, but for the short term, we are going to be holding our Face-to-Face meeting on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at Kojak’s Fine Foods, 1912 W 18th St., Houston TX 77008
(about a mile inside loop 610) at 2:00PM with our normal process and a little workshop. Here is a link to their website.
