Congratulations to the HSA June 2022 Song of the Month Winners, Jay Harris for his song titled IT’S A GOOD WORLD and to Tim Bentley and Josh David Walker with their song titled CARRY ON. Honorable Mention, for the song with the 3rd highest number of votes goes to J.R. ‘Rose’ Rosenberger and C. L. Milburn for their song titled TRUTH IS I LIED. You can hear the songs for the June monthly winners on the Home Page of our website at www.houstonsongwriters.net. Also, a recap of the June Meeting is shown on the Home Page under Monthly Meeting Information.
A special thanks to the 17 members who participated in commenting on the songs and the 24 members who voted. In hopes of increasing the number of members who comment on the songs that are posted each month, we have extended the time for commenting to 28 days. REMEMBER, even if you do not pay dues, you may still comment on the songs as long as you are registered on the HSA website. HSA is dedicated to the art and craft of songwriting where songwriters can learn more about how to write a song; develop their own songs and help others develop through constructive feedback by commenting online or at the Face-to-Face meetings; meet new friends and collaborate with new lyricists and musicians. Every member has something to offer, no matter what stage they are in as a songwriter.
JULY 1, 2022 ON-LINE MEETING - The HSA July On-Line Meeting is now open. You can access all of the open areas for the Song of the Month Entries on the Home Page by clicking on Monthly Submission / Commenting Schedule or clicking on the Members Area Page. Reminder:
The July Schedule for all of the Song of the Month entries are as follows:
July 1 – 11 Upload songs for submissions and comments by members
July 1 – 28 Members may continue to comment on the songs posted
July 16 – 22 Songwriters can revise their song, if necessary
July 23 – 31 Voting for July Song of the Month
We hope that all members will participate in commenting on the songs as soon as they are uploaded to the website.
JULY 10, 2022 FACE-TO-FACE MEETING - We hope to see you at the July Face-to-Face Sunday Meeting at JP Hops House, 2317 S. Hwy 6, Houston, TX 77077. If you bring a song for critiquing, please come early and provide 30 copies of the lyric sheets to pass out to the members. Doors open at 1:30PM and the meeting starts at 2:00PM. We would also appreciate the verbal comments and suggestions made at the Face-to-Face meeting be posted on the website as well. (Please note that JP Hops House is an establishment that sells and serves both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, however, it is not permissible for anyone to bring in any type of liquid beverages, including water.)
