Attention HSA Members,
Congratulations to the HSA May 2022 Song of the Month Winners, Jay Harris for his song titled MAMA’S VOICE and to Warren Hanson for his song titled 907. Honorable Mention, for the song with the 3rd highest number of votes goes to J.R. ‘Rose’ Rosenberger for his song titled BABY BELIEVE IT. You can hear the songs for the May monthly winners on the Home Page of our website at www.houstonsongwriters.net. Also, a recap of the May Meeting is shown on the Home Page under Monthly Meeting Information.
A special thanks to the 17 members who participated in commenting on the songs and the 23 members who voted. We were really encouraged by the 10 members who took the time to comment on the songs and/or voted even though they did not post a song in the May contest. We hope that trend will continue because HSA is more than a Song of the Month competition. HSA is dedicated to the art and craft of songwriting where songwriters can learn more about how to write a song; develop their own songs and help others develop through constructive feedback by commenting online or at the Face-to-Face meetings; meet new friends and collaborate with new lyricists and musicians. Every member has something to offer, no matter what stage they are in as a songwriter.
JUNE 1, 2022 ON-LINE MEETING - The HSA June On-Line Meeting is now open. You can access all of the open areas for the Song of the Month Entries on the Home Page by clicking on Monthly Submission / Commenting Schedule or clicking on the Members Area Page. Reminder:
The June Schedule for all of the Song of the Month entries are as follows:
June 1 – 13 Upload songs for submissions and comments by members
June 1 – 17 Songs can continue to be reviewed by members
June 16 – 22 Songwriters can revise their song, if necessary
June 23 – 30 Voting for June Song of the Month
We hope that all members will participate in commenting on the songs as soon as they are uploaded to the website.
JUNE 12, 2022 FACE-TO-FACE MEETING - We hope to see you at the June Face-to-Face Sunday Meeting at JP Hops House, 2317 S. Hwy 6, Houston, TX 77077. If you bring a song for critiquing, please come early and provide 30 copies of the lyric sheets to pass out to the members. Doors open at 1:30PM and the meeting starts at 2:00PM. We would also appreciate the verbal comments and suggestions made at the Face-to-Face meeting be posted on the website as well. (Please note that JP Hops House is an establishment that sells and serves both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, however, it is not permissible for anyone to bring in any type of liquid beverages, including water.)
