Attention HSA Members,
Congratulations to the HSA March 2021 Song of the Month Winners, Ray Wyatt, for his song titled GUADALUPE AFTERNOON and to Paul Boedeker, for his song titled TROUBLE. Honorable Mention, for the song with the 3rd highest number of votes, goes to Jesse Navarro for his song titled YOU SHINE. A special thanks to the 18 members who participated in the voting process.
Our Houston Songwriters Association’s April On-line Meeting/Video is now in progress. To see the video, go to the website at www.houstonsongwriter.net and click on the HOME page, then click on On-Line Critique Process (in blue) and then click on Monthly Meeting Information. You can also view the schedule for the April submissions, etc. Don’t forget to also listen to the Mini Workshop Youtube Video called Imagery Tips for Second Verse added by our Workshop Coordinator, Andrew Fischer on the link indicated at the bottom of the webpage.
The April Schedule for the Song of the Month entries are as follows:
April 1 – 11 Upload songs for submissions and critiques by members
April 1 – 15 Songs can continue to be critiqued by members
April 16 – 20 Songwriter can revise their song, if necessary
April 21 – 30 Voting for April Song of the Month
IMPORTANT – Here’s an update from our Webmaster, Danny Liggett, on Critiques and Revisions:
“To encourage and help folks with critiquing songs, an easy rating system has been
added to the critique page. Six categories are shown. Just click on the button to rate
that category and the overall song. The songwriters of the songs can see the rating
when they view their songs along with the critique comments.
When songwriters post a new revision, based on critique comments, it is hard for
others to know there has been a change. To help with that, a button has been added
to the “Edit Uploaded Song” page. Songwriters can click on this button when they make
revisions to their uploaded song. When others are viewing the list of songs, in either
the “Current Month” page or on the “On-Line Critique” page, the word “Revised” in red
letters will appear for that song.
Let us know if these are helpful and if you have any other suggestions to make the
Website easier to use.”
We hope that all members will participate in critiquing the songs as they would if we were having the meeting at J P Hops House. Members who participate in the on-line meeting in any aspect will receive the same recognition as being in attendance at any regular HSA Monthly Meeting. Please also continue to support your fellow members by voting in the monthly contests. If you have any questions or problems, please contact us as soon as possible at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We appreciate your membership and thank you for helping to make Houston Songwriters Association successful.
